Q:
Is the coffee here really strong?
A:
It depends on who you ask but I did not think their coffee was particularly strong. However, Stumptown is definitely not weak coffee either. I drink coffee daily, love dunkin donuts coffee (especially in New England) as well as Coffee Bean and Tea… more

Located within the Ace Hotel, a must stop by coffee place. Both my friend and I were in town looking to get a coffee before headed to Multnomah Falls in the cold. I got a large Vanilla Latte with a bagel and she got the same, except with a cinnamon roll.
The Vanilla Latte was amazing! You could tell it was made with care and measurements because it was perfectly balanced in sweetness to coffee ratio. The bagel was absolutely delicious. I think it was sourdough? (I could be wrong) but it was chewy yet crispy of course paired well with the cream cheese!
The cashier and person on the bar making the drinks were kind and friendly upon arrival. Our drinks were made quick as well! Loved the environment here as it was quiet and perfect for the morning. 10/10Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Feb 7, 2024
A great place for a quick coffee (or matcha) pick-me-up. This Stumptown Coffee is located within the Ace Hotel.
Came here after going to the Ace Hotel for their iconic photobooth and had to grab a matcha for a lil midday pick-me-up and it did not disappoint. This location is small but very clean and it easy to grab a quick bite or sip. If you're interested in merch like beanies, cups, or coffee beans, they had some available for purchase.Helpful 16Thanks 3Love this 16Oh no 0 - Dec 17, 2023Updated review
Perfect cappuccino and the best coffee in town, regular or decaf, sustainably grown around the globe, fair trade, and organic. Then roasted downtown Portland.
Cool vibe, sitting in the coffee shop, or slide into the adjacent lounge of the hotel. Cuppa Joe to buzz you on the go!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Aug 8, 2019Previous reviewNew on the shelf today is Ethiopian Mordecofe "Organic." Was not organic until today. So this farmer has been using sustainable practices for a while and now is certified organic.
Mordecofe means Mora Mora River Valley. Well balanced acidity to sweetness with fruity notes. Been drinking this a while. Also what I like about Stumptown is they keep sourcing their sources for process improvement - source the best coffee for us coffee lovers! Amore! This location is connected to the Ace Hotel. So you can enter through the Ace Hotel or they have their own door.
I felt that the prices here were reasonable and the coffee was delicious, as were the pastries!!
The people here were lovely and patient with me as I decided what to order.
The place is small and cozy. They also have seating outside.
The bathroom door has a code! Was is found a lot in Portland because of the homeless population.
Go, enjoy some good coffee and sit at the window seats while planning your next adventure.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Jul 10, 2023
I was staying at Hyatt Centric, and found Stumptown was just down the street for a morning coffee!
I got:
-Draft Original Cold Brew $5.75
-Snickerdoodle cookie - Sparrow bakery $3.75
Coffee and cookie are on the pricier end, but the cold brew was perfect! I enjoyed the cookie as well.
This location isn't too busy, compared to the other downtown location. Staff is friendly, and there is some seating inside. I did enjoy the look and feel of this location for sure.
Street parking only.Helpful 16Thanks 1Love this 13Oh no 1 - Jul 5, 2023
I always buy Stumptown beans at the grocery store, but it's a special treat to visit Stumptown cafes whenever I'm in Portland. On my most recent visit, I ordered a latte with oatmilk, and I have to say this is probably one of the best lattes I've ever had. I was able to taste the nuanced flavor from the roasted beans, and the espresso with oatmilk was so rich and smooth. As a bonus, there is no added charge for alternative milk.
The cafe is well-lit and clean, and I love sitting by the window while sipping my latte. A small detail that I noticed on this visit is that the to-go cups have unique, artsy designs on them. While there are many great coffee shops in Portland, Stumptown has become my go-to coffee spot.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - 65214321Apr 25, 2023
For a caffeine fix, come here! Coffee is oh so strong. Just my type!
Chill spot to kick it and relax.
The Rose Gold Latte was sensational. I loved how it had just a light taste of floral. It was not overbearing.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - May 16, 2023
I came here everyday for a matcha latte and was satisfied every time.
The location is inside of ACE hotel so you can miss it if you walk by too quick.
The service here is great! Everyone was so nice and friendly. They answered any question and made sure to make each drink with care.
I saw a few tables in the front and in the back of the store. It is very quiet inside so you can def get some work done here. There are also a few tables in front outside of the store.
I loved the initiative to reduce waste by bringing your own cup! I did that after the first trip and saved 25cents each time. Not much but a little goes a long way!
I loved that they made the matcha latte with the whisk properly. There were never any clumps in my latte and it always came out right.
Oat milk is there default here so make sure to ask for your dairy choice when drinking if you don't like oat.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - May 3, 2023
Service was quick.
Very small coffee shop with a maximum seating capacity of 5-6.
The americano tasted like drip coffee. My wife liked her cappuccino though.
The ocean roll pastry was the star! The cardamom flavor in it was the best part! I wish it was a a little warm though. It was Cold!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
